Master Weavers
This project was developed by MHBG Creative Ltd, a youth-led publishing house
created in 2021 in partnership with Mastercard Foundation. It is a social enterprise with
a mission to use art and storytelling to educate the world and narrate the story of Africa
and its culture by young Africans.
The Master Weavers’ book, a Heritage project, is a visual invitation into Rwandan
craftsmanship – to soak in and sit with the power of their stories of resilience and their
skill. Women are the backbone of societies globally and this book provides a first hand
account of the experience of independent women weavers and their desire to ensure a
better life for themselves and their communities while showcasing the beauty of Made in
Rwanda.
